Tracking a warm Wednesday before rain returns Thursday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and not as cold with lows in the upper 20s to around 30.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny with highs in the lower 50s. Late day clouds increasing.

EXTENDED: Warmer air working its way in will keep us in the lower 30s overnight. Tomorrow will be arguably the nicest day of the week with highs reaching the lower 50s thanks to a southwest breeze, and we remain sunny through much of the day. Low pressure is expected to track across southern Missouri on Thursday and migrate northeast into Friday morning, bringing our next chance of rain. The track is expected to progress farther north into Missouri, meaning we can expect higher rain totals to encompass more of Mid-Missouri through early Friday with no wintry weather anticipated at this time. Showers look to move in from the south by about midday Thursday and will be the most widespread Thursday night. Rain exits from southwest to northeast on Friday, with a few lingering showers Friday night. We'll be cooler as rain largely exits on Friday with highs in the lower 40s. The weekend is looking warmer, but another system could bring showers between Saturday night and Sunday as it tracks across the upper Plains/Great Lakes region. Rain amounts through the weekend will be in the 0.5" to 1" range, with the lower end of those totals for locations north of I-70.
