Tracking blustery and cold mornings to start the week

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with gradual clearing by daybreak. Cold and windy with lows near 20, wind chills in the lower teens.

TOMORROW: Wind chills feel like around 10-13 degrees in the morning, with highs in the lower 40s. Gusty winds with mostly sunny skies expected.

EXTENDED: A cold high pressure system settling in from the northwest will keep the jet stream flow coming from the northwest as low pressure tracks to the east, bringing in bitterly cold air as winds gusts up to 25 mph overnight into Monday. Morning wind chills will be in the 11-13 degree range on Monday, with temperatures almost 10 degrees cooler than average during the day. Winds ease on Monday night, but lows still fall into the upper teens to around 20. As high pressure migrates east, southerly winds will bring warmer temperatures for the middle of the week as highs reach near 50 on Wednesday and Thursday. Strong low pressure will bring another frontal system through Mid-Missouri between Thursday and Friday, bringing a good chance of measurable rain for our entire area through early Friday. Rain amounts will be in the 0.75" to 1" range. The weekend doesn't cool much as we stay right around average near 50 during the day on Saturday and Sunday, but another round of rain showers are possible by next Sunday night.
