Tracking multiple rounds of rain ahead of an impending cooldown

TODAY: We're tracking the remnants of what was Hurricane Norma, as they arrive in mid-Missouri this morning. This is nothing more than an interesting bit of weather trivia, as the system is totally unrecognizable compared to it's past. Remnant moisture and disturbances will drive a chance for showers and perhaps a rumble of thunder today. Our best rain chances will come in our western counties, but everyone has a chance for rain from mid-morning, into the overnight hours. Expect mostly to completely cloudy skies, save for some sun early, with a high in the upper 70s, nearing 80.

TONIGHT: Rain chances continue overnight, and may peak Wednesday morning, as rain chances move more squarely over mid-Missouri, as opposed to favoring our western counties. Temperatures stay warm, in the 60s early Wednesday.

EXTENDED: As mentioned above, we start the day with good chances at rain and a rumble of thunder or two, but we will generally dry up for most of the day. Rain chances will be drying up as our low level jet weakens around mid-morning. Expect a similarly warm day, with highs in the upper 70s again. A slightly cooler day arrives on Thursday, with a more organized upper level wave bringing better rain coverage expected, but we still reach mid-70s, as it will also keep a steady supply of warmth in addition to moisture. This wave also brings a cold front to the region on Friday. Uncertainty still remains on exactly what this means for temperatures and rain chances into the weekend, but currently the forecast keeps us under a chance for rain, with highs in the 70s on Friday, with cooler weather over the weekend. The front is expected to stall, somewhere nearby, keeping rain chances in the forecast over the weekend. Temperatures will likely display a large range across the front, meaning placement will have a big impact on how warm or cold we feel. We could see temperatures anywhere from 50s to 70s, but at this point, the current forecast leans slightly cooler, with highs in the 60s. Again, watch this patiently over the coming days as this front placement is still highly variable. Temperatures next week are likely solidly below average on the other side of the front. Rain totals have potential to reach 1-3 inches over the next week.
