Tracking mid-week rain and warmer temperatures

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cold with lows in the upper 30s to around 40.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and nice with highs in the lower 70s.

EXTENDED: It will be chilly again tonight as temperatures dip down to about 40. Tomorrow starts off sunny but winds will shift more westerly, getting temperatures back into the lower 70s. A warm front lifts through the area overnight into Wednesday morning, developing rain and storms along the boundary through the morning. The best chance to see storms will be after midnight for areas along and north of I-70. Showers push far enough north to get out of our viewing area by the lunch hour, leaving us with a warm and windy Wednesday and Thursday with the front north of us. Highs get to about 80 each day. The associated cold front tries to approach on Thursday night, bringing a better chance of scattered showers and a few storms late Thursday night into Friday, but severe weather isn't expected. We'll be cooler with the frontal passage, with highs in the 60s on Friday. Clouds look to linger with low pressure hanging out over the Great Lakes over the weekend. We'll see highs in the upper 50s on both Saturday and Sunday. Rain amounts between Tuesday night and Friday will be in the 1-2" range for areas along and north of Highway 24, with much lower amounts south of I-70.
