A Columbia man was arrested on Thursday following a chase with police near the Columbia Mall, according to court documents.

Octavious Davis, 18, was charged with two misdemeanors – resisting arrest and DWI – and a pair of felonies, delivery of a controlled substance and drug possession. He was booked into the Boone County Jail and released on bond.

According to the probable cause statement, police tried to stop a white Nissan Altima near the intersection of Worley Street and Bernadette Drive. The allegedly tried to turn left and almost hit another vehicle. Police say the Nissan – driven by Davis – was driving in the eastbound lane of Worley while heading west.

Police attempted a traffic stop near Stadium Drive and the chase kept going onto West Ash Street. A detective deployed spikes near the intersection of Bernadette and Stadium, and the statement says Davis acknowledged him. The statement says Davis appeared to be under the influence.

Davis drove through the spikes and was eventually spiked again at the intersection at Sexton Road and Garth Avenue, the statement says. Police say Davis continued driving the vehicle on flat tires before stopping near the intersection of Worley and Oak streets.

Police found 77 blue pills and claim there were amphetamines, as well as 17 orange-and-white capsules labeled as Adderall XR, the statement says.

A breathalyzer test was administered on Davis and no alcohol was detected, according to court documents. Davis allegedly admitted to using Adderall and marijuana and stated he didn’t want to pull over because his girlfriend was in the vehicle, according to the statement.
