Columbia Regional Airport adds new temporary flight to Chicago
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Beginning Thursday, the Columbia Regional Airport will be offering an additional, but temporary, flight to Chicago through October 27th.
The flight will depart daily from COU at 11:45 a.m. and land in Chicago around 1:17 p.m.
American Airlines says the new mid-morning flight is part of a temporary increase in flights.
Currently, American Airlines is the only airline to fly out of the airport, and airport officials are hoping the airline will keep the extra flight for a longer period of time.
The airline should know within four to five months if a new permanent flight will be added, but they could know as early as 60 to 90 days from Thursday.
As it is temporary, this specific flight will not be operating during the Thankgiving and winter holiday seasons.
American Airlines says they do typically add additional flights from a day or two around Christmas.
This flight will make it the third flight to leave for Chicago from the airport on the daily. Additional Chicago flights depart at 6:18 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. daily.
Flights to and from Chicago and the Dallas/Ft. Worth airports are the only non-stop flights available to fly out of COU.
