Two people seriously injured in Morgan County crash
MORGAN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Three people were hurt – two with serious injuries – in a Tuesday crash on Highway 5 in Morgan County, just south of Harrison Road, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.
The crash occurred when a 2014 Toyota Tacoma – driven by Woodrow Tweed, 75, of Linn Creek -- stopped to wait for a 2021 John Deere Farm Tractor, which was attempting to make a left turn off of Highway 5. Both vehicles were heading southbound. The tractor was driven by Charles Borum, 68, of Versailles.
The driver of a 2016 GMC Canyon -- Roy Poynter, 71, of Sedalia – failed to yield and rear-ended the Toyota, according to the report. The hit caused the Toyota to rear-end the tractor. The tractor then overturned and stopped on its side in the southbound lane, the report states.
The Toyota then overturned and ended up facing north in the southbound lane. The GMC stopped while facing south on the west side of the road, according to the report.
Tweed suffered minor injuries, while his passenger, his wife, Linda Tweed, 75, of Linn Creek, suffered serious injuries. Both were brought to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach by ambulance. Linda was wearing a seatbelt, Woodrow was not, according to the report.
Borum also had serious injuries and was brought to Capital Region Hospital in Jefferson City by ambulance, the report states. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Poynter was wearing a seatbelt and had not reported injuries. All three vehicles were totaled.
