Columbia installs new LED lights at Eighth and Cherry Parking Garage

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Crews with Columbia Public Works have been installing new ultra-bright LED lights inside the Eighth and Cherry parking garage.

The new lights are around 30% brighter than the previous lights in the garage.

The city says the lights are part of a continued effort to improve the oldest parking garage in the city.

"Having improved lighting, brighter lighting in a garage…it gives a number of benefits,” Columbia Public Works spokesman John Ogan said. “It can help with visibility. It can reduce collisions potentially. It can cut down on people with malicious intent from doing vandalism or break-ins. It can lead to people feeling safe in the garage. Using the garage more...and coming Downtown more often."
