Porter Basketball Academy wrapping up final week of fall league competition

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Porter Basketball Academy has reached its last week of games for its fall league. This was the league's third year of competition.

The six-week long fall basketball league has attracted athletes from across mid-Missouri, ranging from the fourth grade to high school.

It also provides the opportunity for high school players to coach the younger teams to see the game of basketball from a different perspective.

"I think that is probably the coolest part about this league," Michael Scott, the director of the Porter Basketball Academy, said. "Coaching is hard. It can be a challenge. There's a lot of stuff you have to manage right there, and it's cool that these young guys and girls get to go out there and witness that first-hand, and it's just turning them into leaders for when they get back to their school teams."
