Death toll in Taiwan factory fire lowered to nine, with one missing. Four victims were firefighters

TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) — Authorities in Taiwan say one person remains missing following a Friday night fire at a golf ball factory, after forensic analysis revealed that some bones found Sunday were not human. The blaze killed nine other people, including four firefighters. An explosion at about 6:10 p.m. Friday caused part of the building to collapse, trapping firefighters and workers under rubble, Taiwan’s Central News Agency said, quoting a Pingtung County fire official. A second explosion followed 20 minutes later. The cause of the fire remains unclear. Launch Technologies is a major global supplier of golf balls.
