Tracking dense fog ahead of a cool and bright week

TODAY: Clouds and showers are clearing this morning, leaving clear skies before sunrise for some. This will allow for quick radiational cooling of what is a moist surface, encouraging the development of fog early Tuesday. A dense fog advisory is already in effect through 9 AM for several counties, and may expand as clouds exit. Fog will lift around mid-morning, leading to partly cloudy skies through midday. Temperatures will climb out of the 50s, and into the low-to-mid 70s by this afternoon.

TONIGHT: Skies will remain clear overnight, and winds will remain relatively calm with high pressure settling in. With another round of radiational cooling, we'll have temperatures falling into the low 50s, and in some places, possibly high 40s. With dew points in the lower 40s, fog is not expected to be as likely or widespread early Wednesday, but it can't be ruled out, especially near rivers and bodies of water.

EXTENDED: The rest of the week is very straightforward, as we'll have daily partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies, and highs in the 70s. Our next bout of any activity comes on Saturday, as a cold front moves through the region. Timing of this front is highly questionable, and moisture along the front is very limited, so rain chances are low, but non-zero. From here, we'll stay in the 70s into early next week.
