Tigers go perfect in the Mizzou Classic after fighting to the finish on Sunday
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
For the second straight day, the Mizzou volleyball team managed to take matches to five sets to complete come back victories. On Sunday, MU managed to win the last two sets against Colgate to take the match.
Dawn Sullivan has started her era at Mizzou a perfect 3-0 after some exciting wins in the Mizzou Classic.
In Sunday's match, the Tigers were led by a big day from Dilara Gedikoglu with 20 kills and 13 digs. St. Louis native Jordan Iliff also added 18 kills and six digs.
Freshman setter Sierra Dudley had a team-high 52 assists, while Maya Sands led the team in digs with 24.
Sullivan said on Sunday that she doesn't mind these five set games, as long as her team is the one coming out on top.
"I don't mind these, it shows us who we are and I think this team is learning so much about themselves," Sullivan said. "Sure, I'd love to win in three, but I think more than anything else, I just want to see them get out on the court and just be relentless, keep fighting for every point and just be really positive with each other."
Up next - Mizzou hosts the Tiger Invitational next weekend at the Hearnes Center. Game one will be on Friday at 6 p.m. against Northern Kentucky.
