Chiefs position coaches give analysis as training camp nears the end
ST. JOESPH, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Kansas City Chiefs are now down to their final day at training camp on the campus of Missouri Western. The team is getting set for the second week of preseason play against the Arizona Cardinals.
On the second to last day of practice on Wednesday, the media heard from assistant general manager Mike Borgonzi and a variety of position coaches.
Watch extended highlights from the practice below.
Borgonzi commented on the process that the organization goes through when deciding on who will make the 53-man roster and who will be on the practice team.
"It's almost like a draft board," Borgonzi said. "These guys get spit out onto an electronic board and it's a ranking. We start to rank them between guys that we want to claim, trade for and practice squad transactions headed into the season."
The burning question surrounding all of Chiefs training camp this year is defensive lineman Chris Jones. Jones and the Kansas City organization have yet to come to an agreement on his contract, meaning Jones is still not in St. Joe with the team.
"Chris is my opinion was as good, if not the best defensive player in the league last year," said defensive line coach Joe Cullen. "I do stay in touch with Chris. He's working hard and we'll welcome him with open arms when he gets back here."
