Jury trial set for suspect involved in 2022 shooting
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The man charged in connection with a shooting in downtown Columbia during the University of Missouri's homecoming weekend last fall will head to trial in September.
According to online court records, a judge scheduled Donye Jackson's jury trial to start on September 7 at 9 am at the Boone County Courthouse. Jackson is charged with first-degree assault with serious physical injury, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon in connection with the Oct. 21 shooting. The shooting happened on Hitt Street near Locust Street around 11:30 p.m.
The shooting injured three people, including an MU student who investigators say was an innocent bystander.
On July 25, Jackson was released from jail after posting a $200 thousand bond. As part of the conditions of Jackson's bond, he cannot contact any co-defendants, or have any weapons.
Jackson plead not guilty to the charges in May. His next court date is scheduled for Aug. 21 at 9 am.
