A list of mass killings in the United States since January

By The Associated Press

The latest mass killing in the United States happened Monday night in Philadelphia. A 40-year-old man is accused of fatally shooting four people in the streets and killing one man in a house before surrendering to police. This is the country’s 29th mass killing this year — in which four or more people died, not including the assailant, within a 24-hour period. It’s part of the gun violence that flared across the country as the U.S. celebrated the Fourth of July this week. More than a dozen people died and almost 60 were wounded in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Louisiana, Texas, Florida and Washington, D.C.
