Tracking Tuesday night storms that won’t break the heat
THIS MORNING: Light northwest winds push lows to the lower 60s/upper 50s early in the morning. A few sprinkles are possible in western Missouri as decaying storms track in from Kansas, but our area is expected to stay dry.
TODAY: Despite skies becoming partly cloudy, highs increase into the lower 90s. Winds slowly switch from the south, but remain calmer between 5-10 mph.
Extended: Tonight an atmospheric wave will move through the area and push a round of scattered showers in after midnight. Rain holds into early Wednesday but we dry out and warm further to the mid-90s tomorrow afternoon. Thursday sees the actual temperature soar to near 100 degrees with a heat index up to 106 degrees. Friday sees similar conditions with the heat index again in the triple digits, before a cold front and weekend showers arrive to cool things down.
