CPD: Man with gunshot wound taken to hospital following shots-fired call Wednesday in central Columbia
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Columbia Police Department said on its social media that a man suffered an apparent gunshot wound Wednesday afternoon.
Officers were sent to a shots-fired call Wednesday afternoon in the 900 block of Jewell Avenue in central Columbia. CPD tweeted the man who was shot was brought to an area hospital and is stable.
There is no suspect information at this time, the department tweeted.
(2) Upon arriving, officers located an adult male victim with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he is reportedly in stable condition. We’re thankful for the assistance of the MSHP and local EMS personnel in responding to this incident

Detectives, officers and crime scene investigators were working the scene, according to CPD spokesman Christian Tabak.
Police blocked off Jewell Avenue before 4 p.m. and reopened at 5:56 p.m.
Officers were using a metal detector in its search and several evidence markers were on the ground. Police began picking up evidence markers around 5:27 p.m.
Police tape was taken down at 5:48 p.m. Tabak said there is no active threat to the community.

An ABC 17 News reporter saw at least 10 Columbia police officers and a K-9. One fire truck was pulling away from the scene. A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper was also seen.
