Camden County man accused of shooting at neighbor, deputies
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A man who lives near Camdenton was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly fired at his neighbor's home and kept firing when deputies arrived.
The Camden County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that deputies arrested Gary L. Roethler, 62, at his home north of Camdenton. Deputies went to the 1000 block of Velvet Antler Road after a neighbor said Roethler was firing at their home, the sheriff's office says.
Deputies heard gunshots and saw a muzzle flash from a gun come from behind a vehicle, according to the release. Roethler came out with his hands up after deputies commanded him, the release says.
Deputies found a .357 Magnum and spent cartridges in Roethler's pocket, the sheriff's office says.
The neighbor told deputies they fired at an animal near their chicken coop, which prompted Roethler to start firing in their direction, the sheriff's office says.
Camden County prosecutors charged Roethler with second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. He was jailed on a $100,000 bond.
