Tracking cold air rushing into mid-Missouri
THIS EVENING: A cold front is steadily dropping south this afternoon. Expect drizzle and falling temperatures alongside gusty north winds. You'll need the jacket headed out this evening.
TONIGHT: Under mostly clear skies temperatures fall all the way into the upper 10s, bundle up-- it will be very cold into the morning.
EXTENDED: With that cold air firmly in place, temperatures don't recover very much on Thursday afternoon, only managing the 30s. With that cold air staying locked in, our next storm system will move in from the southwest Thursday night. Right now, precipitation looks to start out as all snow, before transitioning over to all rain by Friday afternoon. How long that transition takes place will determine how rough the roads are Friday evening. It is looking likely that we'll see impacts to the roads for the Friday morning commute, so plan accordingly. That precipitation looks like it will stay all rain as it wraps up Friday night. The cold moves in quickly behind this system for the weekend, with highs in the 30s and breezy conditions looking likely. Overnight lows will fall into the teens Saturday and Sunday, so wind chills will get down into the single digits.
