South Columbia dispensary workers to hold union vote next week

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Next week, workers from a south Columbia marijuana dispensary will get a chance to vote on joining a union.

Last month, several workers picketed Shangri-La over working conditions and firings.

Now -- the national labor relations board will help them figure out if they want to unionize.

The election will be held 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, june 14, at the family life center on valencia drive.

The more than 20 workers will vote using a secret ballot.

Employees eligible to vote, according to a notice of election from the NLRB: All full-time and regular part-time patient consultants, patient consultant supervisors, and inventory specialists employed by Shangri-La during the payroll period ending May 21, 2023.
