JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Missouri lawmakers have just hours to pass legislation to make it more difficult to amend the state’s constitution. The Republican-led Legislature’s deadline to pass bills is 6 p.m. Friday. Still pending is a proposal to raise the bar to pass constitutional amendments from a simple majority to 57% vote of approval. The change is a top priority for Republican legislative leaders, but Senate GOP infighting is putting the proposal in jeopardy. The GOP has already passed several big wins this session. The House on Wednesday sent the governor bills to ban minors from getting puberty blockers, hormones or gender-affirming surgery.
