Columbia College softball and baseball headed to AMC Championship games
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Both the Columbia College softball and baseball team punched their ticket to the AMC Championship games after semifinal wins over Missouri Baptist on Thursday.
Up first in Columbia, the fourth-seeded Cougars took down the No. 2 Spartans 2-1. The first run was brought in during the first inning after an error by Missouri Baptist, plus the go ahead run was brought in by Hickman alum Athena Wheeler with a sac fly.
Rock Bridge's own Ella Schouten had another stand out day on the hill throwing a complete seven-inning game allowing just six hits and recording nine strikeouts.
The championship game will be Friday at Antimi Park at noon.
Out in O'Fallon, the CC baseball team also took down Missouri Baptist 13-5 led by a big day at the plate. Indy Stanley was the leading force racking two home runs to total five RBI's, plus Brayden McGinnis and Duffin Makings also drove in three runs each.
On the mound, Reece Clapp got the win going five innings allowing two runs on five hits. Jake Deakins and Pierce Hartmann came in for relief giving up a combined three runs.
The Cougars will play at CarShield Field Friday at noon for the championship.
