Tracking spring storms and summer temperatures this weekend

TODAY: Wednesday is a calmer day as high pressure moves into the region. Winds will progressively relax to a light northerly breeze through the morning, allowing temperatures to climb a bit warmer this afternoon, into the low 70s. It's another bright day, with sunny skies expected from dawn to dusk, so grab the sunscreen and the shades.

TONIGHT: Skies remain mostly clear overnight, with winds shifting out of the south by sunrise. Temperatures fall into the 40s.

EXTENDED: With south winds and partly cloudy skies through the morning, Thursday warms quickly. We'll see highs reach low 70s before thunderstorms begin to work in form the southwest. Rain and thunder will hold off until the afternoon at the earliest, but most will stay dry until the evening, with the best chances for scattered thunderstorms coming overnight into Friday morning. Friday's rain is focused primarily on the morning round, with it exiting by noon. Friday looks cool behind the rain, with forecast highs still near 70. This is cool compared to our summer like warm up that's expected to kick off on Saturday. Another surge of southerly flow will lift temperatures to nearly 80 on Saturday, with rain chances looking very low during the day. Showers and storms look like a better bet towards the late evening into Sunday. Chances of scattered thunderstorms is a recurring theme from Sunday through Tuesday, with a daily supply of moisture, lift, and instability. Through this period, daily temperatures will reach for low 80s, but periodic rainfall may limit temperatures locally. An inch or more of rainfall is possible across the entire region over the next 7 days. No severe weather is currently expected.
