Two Boone County homes hit by gunfire early Thursday
BOONE COUNTY, Mo (KMIZ)
Homes east and southwest of Columbia were hit by bullets early Thursday, the Boone County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies were sent to two separate reports of shots fired. Capt. Brian Leer said deputies found that shots had been fired into homes in the 700 block of Demaret Drive and in the 4300 block of West Bethany Drive.
The calls were separated by about 30 minutes.
Deputies responded to the first report of shots fired a little before 2:30 a.m. in the 700 block of Demaret Drive.
ABC 17 News crews arrived around Demaret Drive area around 3 a.m. to see multiple Boone County cruisers lined along the street along with deputies searching the area and the inside of a nearby home.
ABC 17 News crews were able to speak with a deputy on the scene who confirmed they responded to a shots-fired call but did not confirm if they found evidence from the call or if the home they were searching had property damage.
Deputies also responded to a separate report of shots fired in the 4300 block of West Bethany Drive, just a street away from Belleview where 31-year-old Sam Baldwin was shot along with a five-year-old child on Saturday.
The sheriff's department said Wednesday that Baldwin had died from his injuries.
No one was injured in either shooting and no arrests were made.
