Man and 5-year-old shot in Boone County Saturday evening

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Boone County Sheriff's Department is investigating after a man and child were shot Saturday evening.

Deputies responded to a report of shots fired on the 4300 block of West Bellview Drive around 6:35 p.m.

When deputies arrived on scene, they found a 31-year-old man and a 5-year-old child had been shot outside of a home.

The man suffered serious life-threatening injuries and the child's injuries are believed to be non-life threatening, according to the sheriff's office.

Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Boone County Sheriff's Department said in a press release, the initial evidence leads them to believe there were multiple shooters/suspects involved in the shooting.

However, no suspects have been arrested.

The Boone County sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact the Boone County Sheriff's Office through Boone County Joint Communications at 573-442-6131 or 311.

When ABC 17 News crews arrived on scene they saw at least one house taped off.

There are at least five police cruisers with lights on blocking the street.

The whole property of the house was surrounded by crime scene tape, including the backyard, where officers seem to be focusing.
