Tracking warm temperatures through Thursday, storms returning tomorrow night
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and mild with lows in the upper 50s.
TOMORROW: Partly cloudy, breezy, and warm with highs in the upper 70s to around 80.
EXTENDED: A warm front continues to lift north, settling across northern Missouri late tonight. Winds pick up from the south tonight in response, bringing temperatures into the upper 50s overnight. A spot shower or rumble of thunder will be possible near the front across northern sections of the state overnight. Wednesday will be mild yet again, with a few more afternoon clouds. Highs reach the upper 70s to near 80 degrees. Showers and storms develop along both the warm and cold fronts late Wednesday night, with showers and storms becoming more widespread through Thursday morning. The cold front quickly moves east early Thursday afternoon, mitigating any severe weather risk for our area. Behind the front it's chilly, with highs only reaching near 60 on Friday. Friday evening will bring a chance for a few showers that could linger into Saturday morning, but the weekend is looking much cooler. Highs on Saturday only make it to the upper 40s to around 50, with overnight lows falling into the lower 30s. Frost is possible across much of Mid-Missouri on Sunday morning, so sensitive plants should be covered or brought in on Saturday night. Temperatures return to the low to mid-60s early next week.
