Tracking a warm end to the week, storms possible on Saturday

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and mild with lows in the mid-50s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and breezy with highs in the upper 70s to around 80.

EXTENDED: Friday will be another warm day as upper high pressure tries to hang on for yet another day. A strong cold front slowly working its way east from the Plains will move in from the west, bringing a chance for isolated showers and a few rumbles of thunder overnight into Saturday morning. The front will be lagging near the Missouri/Kansas border until afternoon, allowing temperatures to warm into the upper 70s to almost 80 again on Saturday. Instability is expected to build ahead of the front as moisture begins to increase, setting us up for the potential of a few strong storms depending on the timing of the front. If the front continues to track slowly into Mid-Missouri, areas along and east of Highway 63 will have the chance to see heavy rain, strong winds, and quarter size hail between late afternoon and mid-evening. Behind the front, showers are expected to wrap around low pressure to our north and could linger into Sunday morning. Rain amounts will be between 0.25" and 0.5". Temperatures dip into the lower 40s to start on Sunday, with highs struggling to get to 60 degrees. Next week starts off mild with highs near 70 on Monday. We warm quickly back into the upper 70s to around 80 for the rest of the week with a chance of a few showers and storms between Wednesday and Thursday.
