Kansas City Chiefs advance to AFC Championship game

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

For the second straight season, the Kansas City Chiefs will host the AFC Championship game. The Chiefs defeated the Houston Texans, 51-31.

The game started out about as poorly as it could have for Kansas City. The Texans jumped out to a 24-0 lead that included a muffed punt and blocked punt by the Chiefs.

From then on, it was all Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes took over and finished with 321 yards passing and five touchdowns. Travis Kelce caught 10 passes for 134 yards and three touchdowns. The Chiefs scored 41 unanswered points and dominated the final three quarters.

The Chiefs will look to rebound after last year's AFC Championship loss to the reigning Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots.

Kansas City will face the Tennessee Titans at 2:05 p.m. on Sunday.
