Columbia College sweeps the diamonds

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia College baseball and softball teams both won each game in their doubleheaders on Friday afternoon. The baseball Cougars shutout Williams Baptist University in two games and the softball Cougars allowed just one run through two outings.

The baseball team notched a 10-0 win and a 4-0 win on Friday afternoon. In the first game, Dan Fick tossed a complete game shutout, allowing just one hit with seven strikeouts. In game number two, Bryce Taylor took the hill for a complete game. He allowed five hits with six strikeouts.

The Cougar softball team also put up a dominant performance against Harris-Stowe State University on Friday. Rock Bridge alum Ella Schouten tossed a complete game shutout, allowing just one hit on 12 strikeouts in game one. Columbia College won that game 15-0.

In game two, CC took down the Hornets, 13-1. Palmyra native Jazlin Gottman took the circle and pitched for a complete game, as well. She had 10 strikeouts and allowed one run on one hit.

Up next - Cougar baseball will host Williams Baptist, again, on Saturday at 1 p.m. The softball team will host University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in a double header at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday.
