Tracking a warm and dry day ahead of rain and snow chances this week

TODAY: A cold front is moving through mid-MO this morning, but all is still well with our warmer than normal forecast for the day ahead. Despite a wind shift, still-mild air will allow the region to warm back to nearly 60 or higher. The cold front will bring a light breeze, and push rain to our south even farther away. Some high clouds will reach over the cold front into mid-Missouri, taking us from partly cloudy to mostly cloudy by this afternoon.

TONIGHT: These clouds will thicken overnight, leaving us mostly cloudy at sunrise Wednesday, with temperatures in the 30s.

EXTENDED: Temperatures will warm to only 50 on Thursday as clouds remain over us with a north breeze in place. Rain arrives in the afternoon, and sticks around overnight into Friday morning. Cold air will try to work in and mix in some snow with the cold rain. Exact track of this system is still uncertain, which will have an impact on how much snow we see, but confidence is high in that whatever snow we do see will be a wet and slushy snow. Beyond Friday, Saturday is looking dry and mild, with temperatures near 50, before climbing into the upper 50s by Sunday afternoon. While some may 60 on Sunday, the warm up continues on Monday putting most of us in the mid-60s. Our next chance for rain returns on Tuesday.
