Tracking strong storms with damaging winds, heavy rain overnight

TONIGHT: Spotty showers early with widespread storms and heavy rain overnight. Damaging winds possible after midnight with gusts of 60 mph. Lows near 50. A Weather Alert Day is in effect through 7AM Monday.

TOMORROW: Rain clears out early with gusty winds lingering throughout the day. Highs reach near 60 degrees with wind gusts between 40-50 mph.

EXTENDED: The cold front responsible for tonight's storm will quickly press on to the east with strong surface winds sticking around through the day. Rain amounts through Monday morning will be around 0.5" to 1". Gusts could reach 50 mph at times. Winds begin to ease a bit tomorrow night, leaving us with lows falling into the mid-30s. Tuesday is mild with more sunshine as temperatures remain near 60 degrees. A dry front moves through on Wednesday, cooling us a bit overnight Wednesday into Thursday. We'll be keeping a close eye on a closed off low pressure system that moves into the region between Thursday and Friday, keeping temperatures in the 40s and bringing rain later in the day. Depending on the temperatures and track of the system, rain could change over to snow overnight Thursday into Friday. Total rainfall will be in the 0.5" to 1" range, with the higher end of that range across southern Missouri. Friday will be cooler as precipitation exits with highs in the lower 40s. The weekend starts off chilly with temperatures falling into the low 20s and highs in the upper 40s to around 50 by Saturday.
