Former Oklahoma St. teammates Gooch, Uihlein share LIV lead

PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico (AP) — Peter Uihlein and Talor Gooch are tied for the lead in LIV Golf’s opening event of its season in Mayakoba. Another shot behind is Charles Howell III. All three of them played college golf at Oklahoma State. Uihlein was the U.S. Amateur champion as a junior for the Cowboys during Gooch’s freshman year. Howell came a decade before them. Uihlein got off to a hot start and had a wild finish for a 66. Gooch birdied his last hole from short range for a 66. Howell’s 66 helped his Crushers team take a two-shot lead over 4 Aces.
