WASHINGTON (AP) — As the war rages on in Ukraine, the United States is doing more than supporting an ally. It’s learning lessons with an eye toward a possible future lash with China. The U.S. is looking at how Taiwan would need to be supplied and the Pentagon is reviewing what stockpiles need to be urgently replenished. The U.S is even looking at how space will play a major role in any new conflict. American officials and defense experts say the goal is to be able to better defend Taiwan in a potential conflict with China. U.S. military officials say Beijing wants to be ready to invade the self-governing island of Taiwan by 2027.
