MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Magda Linette has reached the quarterfinals at a Grand Slam tournament in her 30th appearance. She made it that far Monday at the Australian Open by eliminating No. 4 seed Caroline Garcia in straight sets. Linette credits work on the mental side of the game for this breakthrough. She next will face two-time major finalist Karolina Pliskova. No. 5 seed Aryna Sabalenka and Donna Vekic will meet in another women’s quarterfinal on the bottom side of the draw. The two quarterfinals on the top half are No. 3 Jessica Pegula against two-time Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka, and Elena Rybakina against Jelena Ostapenko.
