MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Sebastian Korda has reached the first Grand Slam quarterfinal of his career by beating 10th-seeded Hubert Hurkacz in a fifth-set tiebreaker at the Australian Open. Korda is a 22-year-old American whose father, Petr, won the 1998 championship at the tournament. Korda’s 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (10-7) victory over Hurkacz followed up a third-round win against 2021 U.S. Open champion Daniil Medvedev, who reached the final at Melbourne Park each of the past two years. Korda will face Karen Khachanov next. Jiri Lehecka had never won a Grand Slam match until this tournament and got to the quarterfinals by eliminating No. 6 Felix Auger-Aliassime. Lehecka now plays No. 3 Stefanos Tsitsipas.
