Mizzou football introduces new offensive coordinator

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou football coach Eli Drinkwitz introduced the Tigers' new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Kirby Moore, before the start of the MU men's basketball game on Saturday morning.

Moore is joining Drinkwitz's staff after six years at Fresno State, where he most recently served as the offensive coordinator in 2022.

Drinkwitz said he started meeting with Moore after the New Year and realized pretty quickly that he would be a good fit in Columbia.

"The thing that I really evaluate about coaches is their urgency. You can tell somebody who is quick to answer a phone call, quick to return texts and that's Kirby," he said. "When somebody's like that they're really excited about the future and the opportunity and really felt like he did a great job with those things."

Drinkwitz added that Moore's offense will feature a lot more of one thing MU's offense was lacking in 2022: throwing the football. Moore said his scheme will all come down to what best fits his personel.

"We got to take care of the ball, we got to be explosive and we got to score more," he said.

Moore had a lot of praise for Coach Drinkwitz and looks forward to working with an offensive-minded head coach.

"We got to figure out what our guys do well and do that over and over and over," Moore said. "At the end of the day it comes back to we got to take care of the ball, we have to be explosive and we got to score more."

Moore is coming to Mizzou with a lot of talent already in the receiver room including Luther Burden coming up on his second season as a Tiger.

"We can drop all the different routes and concepts, but we still have to find those guys who can either separate down field, take a five-yard option route right and take it 25 and that can really get your offense going," Moore said.
