Tracking cold rain mixed with a few flurries today

THIS MORNING: Light snow is possible early but will quickly switch over to isolated light rain by midmorning. Temperatures reach the upper 30s under overcast skies. Accumulations are expected to remain very low.

TONIGHT: Temperatures are insulated a bit thanks to clouds overnight, with lows holding in the upper 20s.

EXTENDED: Highs drop to near freezing Tuesday with light drizzle possible as a weak disturbance ripples through. Our main focus continues to center on Wednesday night into Thursday, with widespread accumulating snow possible. Amounts remain uncertain, mainly due to discrepancies in whether this will be wet or dry snow. Regardless, bitter arctic air arrives behind this system, with highs in the teens on Thursday, and potential below-zero temperatures to start Friday. Wind chills at that point could reach as low as -20 degrees or worse. Conditions recover somewhat for the holiday weekend though highs will likely remain subfreezing on Christmas Day.
