JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A motion for continuance was filed during a bond hearing Monday for the man accused of killing two people in November at a Jefferson City bar.
A bond hearing was held for Damien Davis, 35, on Monday at the Cole County Circuit Court. A preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27.
Davis is being held without bond at the Cole County Jail.
Damien Davis, 35, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and illegal gun possession in the shooting death of 26-year-old Skylar Smock and 43-year-old Corey Thames on Nov. 26 at J. Pfenny's Sports Grill and Pub.
Attorney Scott Rosenblum, of St. Louis, is representing Davis. Rosenblum has represented many criminal cases that garnered attention. He led the jury selection on the team of attorneys that defended former Gov. Eric Greitens in his invasion of privacy case. A jury acquitted one of Rosenblum's Mid-Missouri clients, Mehrdad Fotoohighiam, in an arson case.
Davis is also represented by Thomas Pisciotta, of the same law firm as Rosenblum.
Davis previously sought counsel from a public defender. He was initially denied by a Cole County Judge, because he was allegedly not eligible because his income is above threshold to be eligible to receive one. A judge later changed that decision after Davis told a judge that access to his money had allegedly been frozen.
Rosenblum and Pisciotta are from the Rosenblum, Schwartz & Fry law firm in St. Louis.
