Tracking cold air that is gone by the end of the week
TODAY: Wednesday is starting starkly cold, with temperatures in the 20s area wide early this morning. With a steady northwest breeze sustained around 15-20 mph through the day, temperatures will struggle to reach 40 this afternoon, likely landing somewhere in the high 30s. Abundant sunshine will help all it can, but today is shaping up bitterly cold in comparison to Tuesday.
TONIGHT: Winds will relax overnight as high pressure moves in, but the calm conditions partnered with mostly clear skies will yield even cooler temperatures to start Thursday.
EXTENDED: Thursday starts in the low 20s, but a more southerly wind returns by the afternoon, putting temperatures back in the low 40s. Our warm up continues into Friday, where winds begin to become a bit more breezy from the south. This puts highs back near 60 by Friday afternoon, despite thickening clouds. These clouds have potential to drop some rain, primarily in the evening ahead and along of a cold front. Moisture availability looks low though, so any precipitation will be minor, and confined east of Hwy 63. Overall, Friday is shaping up mostly dry. Any precipitation that develops is gone by Saturday morning. Expect a cooler day behind Friday night's cold front, with highs in the 40s under partly cloudy skies. The end of the weekend brings another chance at rain, which may linger to start the week. Confidence is low in exactly how this system is handled, so stay tuned to the forecast for more.
