Tracking a warmup into Thanksgiving week

TODAY: Warmer weather returns Sunday despite a bitterly cold start. Temperatures in the teens to start the day will turn into low 40s by this afternoon, thanks to abundant sunshine and a southwest wind around 10-15 mph through midday.

TONIGHT: A light south breeze keeps temperatures from falling as far overnight into Monday. Temperatures will bottom out in the 20s for most.

EXTENDED: Monday welcomes more sunshine, and a continued south breeze. Our warmup continues, putting us in the 50s Monday afternoon. Expect upper 50s with sunshine on Tuesday, and despite a few extra clouds, our highs will register upper 50s once more on Wednesday. Things get more complicated for Thanksgiving, as a cold front arrives on Thursday. Timing of the front is uncertain at this time, and there is a lot of disagreement about this end-of-week system as a whole. Generally speaking, as the front passes, we'll fall from near seasonable temperatures, to below average temperatures. Currently, the forecast is for a chance of rain and temperatures somewhere in the 40s and 50s Thursday afternoon, and getting colder into the night behind the front. Keep in mind that this could change as there is great uncertainty in the data from Thursday onward. Models show little agreement in timing, track, and moisture availability, so stay tuned to the forecast as we approach Thanksgiving.
