Columbia police investigate after skeletal remains found
UPDATE 7/26: Police identified the remains as those of Glen Lester O’Neal, 39, of Columbia. The cause of death remains unknown.
UPDATE 9 p.m.: Columbia police confirmed the department is conducting a death investigation after skeletal remains were found in the area of I-70 Drive SW and Stadium Boulevard.
Police said this is an active investigation and more information would be released at a later time.
ORIGINAL: MoDOT warned drivers of a “police emergency” near Interstate 70 in Columbia on Thursday night.
According to the traveler map, it started around 7 p.m. west of the Stadium Boulevard exit in the eastbound lanes.
ABC 17 News saw Columbia Police Department vehicles and a crime scene investigation at the scene.
The scene cleared around 8:30 p.m.
