FEMA approves $1.4 million in federal aid

A FEMA spokesman reports more than 300 homeowners around Missouri will receive federal disaster relief.

“FEMA has approved more than 300 households for individual assistance grants and provided more than $1.4 million directly to the survivors to help with their recovery,” John Mills, FEMA acting external affairs officer said.

This week, FEMA teams are going door-to-door in 20 Missouri counties impacted by recent flooding and tornadoes. Mills said FEMA agents have completed 486 home inspections of the 729 registered so far.

Mills added more funding will be provided to homeowners with damaged property from the severe storms.

“Additional funding will be approved, as more households register for disaster assistance and additional home inspections are conducted,” Mills said.

Boone, Cole, Miller, Chariton, Osage and Pulaski counties are included with the Missouri counties approved to receive FEMA aid.

Homeowners in areas affected by the severe storms, flooding and tornadoes can still register with FEMA for federal aid.
