Mizzou wrestling gets opening win on the diamond
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The No. 3 Mizzou wrestling team opened its season with a dominant win over Lindenwood 55-0, taking all ten matches in the second ever Dual on the Diamond.
Noah Surtin started things off hot with a pin in the 125-pound weight class followed by a pin from Connor Brown in the 133-pound class.
Redshirt senior Allan Hart took the victory in the 141-pound weight class on technical fall 26-10.
The next two matches were from two Father Tolton alums. Brock Mauller returned to the mat after taking a redshirt season and had the third pin of the afternoon in the 149-pound weight class.
Senior Jarrett Jacques followed that up with a 16-1 technical fall in the 157-pound class to take the Tigers to intermission leading 28-0.
Reigning champion Keegan O'Toole scored a 16-5 major decision in his 165-pound match. Peyton Mocco had a pin in the 174-pound match followed by an 18-2 technical fall from Sean Harman.
Redshirt freshman Jesse Cassatt scored the pin in the 197-pound contest. Â
In the final match of the afternoon, Zach Elam set a school record for the fastest fall, with a nine-second pin in his 285-pound match breaking Rick Romeo's previous record of 13 seconds, set in the 1982 season.
Up next - Mizzou heads to Kansas City to host the Tiger Style Invite at Staley High School on Saturday, Nov. 12.
