Court documents: Jefferson City shooting result of robbery

The suspect in a Jefferson City shooting from Monday night was charged on Tuesday, and police were still searching for him.

Michael L. Miller, 27, of Jefferson City, entered a home in the 1300 block of Monroe Street. Miller told everyone in the home to empty their pockets and then hit the 25-year-old victim in the back of the head with a pistol, according to a probable cause statement.

Miller then shot the victim in the chest, took his wallet and ran away from the home court documents said.

The Jefferson City Police Department called in a K9 unit, which tracked Miller to the 300 block of Case Avenue. Officers were able to find a green jacket in the area.

The victim was able to identify Miller from a photo line up and said Miller was wearing a green jacket at the time of the shooting.

According to a JCPD news release, Miller is not in custody and is considered armed and dangerous.

Miller was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm.
