Police investigate reports of gunfire in northeast Columbia

There was a heavy law enforcement presence along Rice Road in northeast Columbia on Tuesday night.

Several officers with the Columbia Police Department responded to Rice Road near Boyd Lane around 9:30 p.m. An officer at the scene told ABC 17 News that police were called to the area for reports of gunfire and one shooting victim. However, officers did not find anything.

Police did not find evidence of property damage, a spent shell casing or a shooting victim. Officers cleared the scene by 10:15 p.m.

A few blocks down, deputies and officers were also seen at Arena Liquor on Rice Road near Ballenger Lane just before 10 p.m.

ABC 17 News is working to confirm if the two scenes are related.
