Man dead after crash on Highway 52 near Eldon

A man is dead after a crash on Highway 52 near Eldon on Monday afternoon.

David O. Ward, 66, of Eldon, was taken to University Hospital in Columbia around 12:05 p.m. following a single-vehicle crash west of VFW Road.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a van driven by Ward went off the side of the road, hit several trees and flipped over.

Troopers said Ward wasn’t wearing a seat belt.

Ward was pronounced dead by University Hospital doctors at 3:15 p.m.

The Highway Patrol said this is Troop F’s 10th deadly crash this month and 32nd in 2019.
