MoDOT performs emergency fix on Highway PP culvert
The Missouri Department of Transportation performed an emergency fix on a culvert near Highway PP northeast of Columbia.
Heavy rain caused water to undermine the pipe, creating a void under the pipe, according to MoDOT maintenance worker Kent Cunningham.
Cunningham said they will put rocks underneath the pipe tonight to fill the void temporarily. He added that a replacement is expected rather than a repair.
Highway PP near East Palmer Road was closed for over an hour for the fix. It’s not clear when future work on the culvert may occur.
