Judge withdraws warrant for Miller County woman accused of burning child

A warrant has been dropped after a Miller County woman failed to appear for court earlier this month.

According to public records, Elizabeth G. Austin, 25, of Lake Ozark, presented evidence at a hearing Monday that explained she missed court April 17 due to a crash.

Austin is accused of leaving her 6-month-old daughter alone in the bathroom with her 2-year-old child while trying to get a third child, who had a knife, under control.

The baby was taken to a hospital with severe burns after the 2-year-old pushed the infant underneath a faucet and turned on the hot water, according to court documents.

Police said methamphetamine was also found in Austin’s home.

Austin is charged in Miller County with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and drug possession.

A court hearing is scheduled for Austin next month.
