Tolton hires former Mizzou football player as new football coach

Fr. Tolton Catholic High School has hired former Mizzou football standout Michael Egnew as its new head football coach.

“Our common mission for each and every coach must be to do our absolute best for our students and student athletes to help them grow, have fun competing in their sport, develop relationships and friendships with their teammates, and respect the game,” interim athletic director Gary Link said in a statement.

Egnew will replace Chad Masters, who will take over as the football coach at Vianney. Egnew has been a volunteer coach for the Blazers since 2015.

The former Mizzou tight end (2008-2011) was selected in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. Egnew decided to return to Columbia once his playing career was over.
