Centralia firefighters battled a house fire Friday night. Crews were dispatched around 11 p.m. to the intersection of Bryson Street and Allen Street in Centralia for a reported house fire. Greg Halderman will once more be the chief of police in Sturgeon. Boone County Judge Jeff Harris ordered the city to reinstate Halderman to his job, and give him the 20 months of back pay he missed. The city council fired Halderman in 2017 over allegations of alcohol abuse and inappropriate behavior. Harris ruled in

Boone County Road and Bridge had to get creative in order to fill out its fleet of road graders. The department responsible for clearing roads of snow and ice in the county had issues with three road graders on Friday. The county uses road graders to clear off gravel roads, as opposed to plow trucks.

Columbia Public Works plans to work on snow-packed priority routes overnight. The department said a new crew reported in at 7 p.m. to continue clearing the roads.
